Google has unveiled its new Android Wear, a special version of Android OS designed for smartwatches as well as other wearables. Already working with major Android partners like Motorola, LG, ASUS, HTC, Samsung, Qualcomm and many others for various wearable designs, the Android Wear will focus on voice recognition, Google Now, navigation, various fitness apps and full integration with Android smartphones, of course.
While a lot of questions regarding the Google Android Wear were left unanswered, Google did shed some light on what to expect as well as show some of the first solutions from a couple of partners, including LG and Motorola, which show that recent rumors regarding LG Nexus smartwatch were true.
According to Google, the Android Wear will provide "useful information when you need it most" by showing info and suggestions as well as latest post and updates from social apps, chats, messaging apps and more, give "straight answers to spoken questions" by simply saying Ok Google to start voice recognition and call a cab, send texts, make a restaurant reservation or something simple as set an alarm, give "the ability to monitor your health and fitness" with various fitness apps and be "your key to a multiscreen world" by accessing and controlling other devices from your wrist.
Google has already released a developer preview of the Android Wear which should make sure that there will be plenty of apps when some of the first smartwatches hit the market later this year. As mentioned earlier, Google has already partnered with some of the big names including manufacturers like ASUS, HTC, LG and Samsung as well as chip makers like Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm.
Recent rumors regarding LG Nexus smartwatch turned out to be true as just minutes after Google's announcement of Android Wear, LG has announced its own LG G Watch, coming later this year. The big surprise was Motorola with its Moto 360 smartwatch with a circular display and quite a neat and cool looking watch.
You can check out more about Google Android Wear in a video below and we will focus more in a separate news posts on LG and Motorola as well as any other smartwatch which should launch in the meantime.
