Beginning of this year brought the birth of the Immersive Technology Alliance, a group made up of several large companies that will work for the development and promotion of the virtual reality.
If the name Immersive Technology Alliance means nothing to you, then you must check again as the stuff is simply amazing and the group is actually an evolution of an older group called Stereoscopic 3D Gaming Alliance which got some new members and refocused on virtual reality.
The group holds couple of rather big names including Oculus VR, a company behind the Oculus Rift, Electronic Arts, Panasonic and Epson, and some other designers which have their own projects, including YEY Technology who presented their combination PrioVR at CES 2014, the Avegant box that is the creator of the virtual reality headset Avegant Glyph and Technical Illusion, inventors of Castar glasses which are nothing short of stunning. Two videos bleow can give you a better idea on what can you do with a pair of 3D glasses and old white sheet.
The surprising factor is that Sony is not a part of this group as they are already working on a virtual reality helmet. Of course we are quite sure that we will hear more about the Immersive Technology Alliance as well as Sony's own VR during Game Developer Conference.
