OCZ has issued a new case study coming from Cartal-Rijsbergen Automotive (CRA), a leading provider of automotive parts, equipment, tires, tools and accessories from the Netherlands, in which it shows the gains of the OCZ PCIe-based ZD-XL SQL accelerator in real-world scenarios and applications such as data warehousing, data mining and OnLine Transaction Processing (OLTP).
Back in mid-2013, the IT department at the Cartal-Rijsbergen Automotive (CRA) initiated infrastructure assessment to evaluate its hard drive-based storage area network (SAN) and find the best way to overcome their SQL Server performance bottlenecks. The research led to PCI-Express SSDs as a viable storage option which will improve database performance, improves power efficiency and fits directly into a server's PCIe bus thanks to both half-height and full-height card format.
The RCA IT team eventually chose OCZ ZD-XL SQL Accelerator due to improved capabilities that deliver optimized flash caching so that data is right, relevant and readily available to SQL Server when the application needs it as well as improved performance with reduced overall center cost.
The new case study shows infrastructure issues, details regarding ZD-XL SQL Accelerator solution and its innovative flash cashing, TempDB flash volumes and results from testing and implementation. According to details, the Return of Investment (ROI) ended up with improved performance of the SQL server database of over 450 percent with improved data throughput of 150 percent.
You can download the entire case study below if you are interested about full details of the implementation of the OCZ ZD-XL SQL Accelerator at the Cartal-Rijsbergen Automotive.
