Ubuntu announces the new App Showdown

Ubuntu has announced its latest Ubuntu App Showdown where contestants will have six weeks to build and publish their own apps using the new Ubuntu SDK and platform in order to win some quite good prizes as well as the bragging rights.

According to details posted at Ubuntu Developer site, both the original apps and ported apps, QML and HTML5 will also qualify for the competition. The categories include QML original apps, HTML original apps, "ported" apps as well as the Chinese Apps, which include original and apps specific to China and Chinese culture.

The prizes include Nexus 7 devices per category fro QML, HTML5 and ported apps and two top Chinese apps will get a Meizu smartphone each.

In case you are into designing apps, this might be a good way to get your app out and even win some cool prizes in case your app gets picked by a jury of five judges.
