Is it possible to use only the Chromebook?

The 7-day trial

MaxmiumPC likes to do things their way and recently, they have questioned the usefulness of the Chromebook in a 7-day trial to check out if it can it be actually used as the only computer.

In order to make the test as good as possible, MaximumPC's editorial chief decided to give the Acer C720 Chromebook to its colleagues and prohibit them for using anything else for a week. The Chromebook should be used for work, writing, news, video watching, playing games and even extends from work to home situation.

All of this was done to see if the web giant has created a suitable and viable alternative to the competition with its ChromeOS. The results are quite interesting as Photoshop, Steam and Origin for BF4 were the most missed apps and while it can be used for work, it lacks a lot of other applications that we simply take for granted since we have a fully Windows running desktop, or a gaming/performance notebook.

There are a couple of things that are good on ChromeOS but one thing they really did not like is the management of files as there is no way to create a folder and everything goes to the download directory of the device. With 16GB of storage, it is far from a perfect situation.

Would you try the same experiment?
