During IT Partners 2014 show, guys from the Comptoir du Hardware site had a chance to check out AMD's stand and test the developer kit of Oculus Rift with TrueAudio technology and see AMD's Mantle API in action on three screens, powered by a single R9 290X.
Guys managed to get their hands on Oculus Rift dev kit test it with AMD's TrueAudio technology in an environment where you walk around in a villa at the edge of a lake with 3D display and spatial sound technology. The TrueAudio works like a charm but the graphics engine was far of the level in current games, but still allowed movement of the Oculus Rift.
It also appears that some users fel nauseous and it was quite weird to try it without any body movement, so not everyone reacts the same to this technology.
AMD also put a lot of focus on the Mantle API and showcased three 1080p screens connected to a single R9 290X and running Battlefield 4 on beta drivars. Unfortunately, we have not seen any new studios and developers in support for Mantle API so the list still includes: Cloud Imperium Games (Star Citizen) , Eidos- Montreal ( THIEF ) and Games Oxide ( Nitrous ).
In any case, we will try to check out more.
