Zotac has revived the Nvidia ION in a new ZBox ID45 mini-PC by pairing it up with Intel's Core i3 CPU. Now called the Geforce GT 640, Nvidia's ION GPU was quite good but was previously usually paired up and plagued by under-performing CPUs.
As far as the specs go, the new Zotac ZBox ID45 uses Intel's 3rd generation Core i3 3227U dual-core CPU with 3MB of L2 cache and clocked at 1.9GHz which is paired up with Nvidia Geforce GT 640 GPU with 2GB of DDR3 memory. It also comes with HDMI, DVI-i and VGA outputs and support 4K video decoding as well as features 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth, four USB 3.0 ports, card reader and dual Gigabit Ethernet.
As always, the new Zotac ZBox ID45 series will also be available as a barebone or as a Plus version which ship with 4GB of DDR3 memory and a 500GB HDD.
Unfortunately, Zotac did not shed any light regarding the actual availability date or the price of the new ZBox ID45 mini-PC.
