Google releases Chromecast SDK

To bring game streaming

Google's little HDMI dongle, known as the Chromecast, was already quite interesting with its US $35 price tag, but now that Google has announced public release of the Chromecast SDK, which will allow developer to make their own apps for streaming, will make it just a tad bit more interesting.

Currently, Chromecast is quite limited considering that there is a handful of apps that support it, including streaming from Chrome web browser on PC, Mac or Chromebook to the TV as well as Netflix, Hulu Plus and Youtube. Now that the SDK has been released, many developers will jump on board and we will definitely see some impressive apps for streaming.

In an interview at CNET, Google's Chromecast Product Manager Director, Rishi Chandra, noted that games will definitely be a part of Chromecast's future. "Gaming is an exciting opportunity for what you can do with Chromecast," said Chandra. "It's exactly the right model. The fact that it works with your iOS phone and Android tablet and Windows laptop is true multiscreen. There's a lot of potential there."

Developers can find all details over at Google's Developer Blog.
