Machinima gets paid for talking good about Xbox One

Not a best move from Microsoft

Microsoft is paying 3$ for 1000 visualizations to Youtubers if they put 30 seconds of Xbox One gameplay and say good things about it in their videos.

Yesterday, thanks to a tweet from the UK community manager Ron, we have seen a rather strange promotional offer by Microsoft.

Every user who posts a video which contains gameplay footage, and a good comment about Xbox One will be paid three dollars for every thousand hits. Of course, if he "does not say anything negative or disparaging about Machinima, Xbox One, or any of its games".

Today, after yesterday troubles, Machinima responded to accusations saying that is "a typical marketing partnership".

This is the official statement:
"This partnership between Machinima and Microsoft was a typical marketing partnership to promote Xbox One in December. The Xbox team does not review any specific content or provide feedback on content. Any confidentiality provisions, terms or other guidelines are standard documents provided by Machinima. For clarity, confidentiality relates to the agreements themselves, not the existence of the promotion."

We certainly hope that Microsoft did all this in good faith, otherwise this will be a huge consumer-confidence hit for a big IT company such as Microsoft.
