Nvidia GTX 750 Ti may be Maxwell-based

Coming in February 2014

According to a fresh report from Sweclockers, Nvidia is planing to launch the new Geforce GTX 750 Ti graphics card in February, and it might be even based on the new Maxwell architecture, rather than current Kepler one.

Nvidia's GTX 750 Ti has already showed up in a couple of rumors but was never launched and Nvidia simply might have skipped it due to the fact that it could not fill the expected performance level with the GK106 Kepler chip. Of course, the use of Geforce 700 series naming scheme comes as a surprise but considering that we are looking at the mainstream graphics card, it could be possible.

Previously, there were reports that Nvidia will start fresh with the Maxwell architecture, starting with entry-level, mainstream and then high-performance graphics cards. With these recent rumors regarding entry-level Maxwell based GPU with same Geforce 700 series naming scheme could mean that Nvidia will hold the launch of the new Geforce 800 series generation until it have the entire lineup ready.

In any case, we will know for sure quite soon as we draw closer to the end of January.
