According to a report from Digitimes, it appears that Intel currently plans to launch its Core Haswell refresh CPU lineup in the second quarter of 2014, or between April and June. Motherboard makers are expected to launch some of the first Z97 Express and H97 Express based motherboards by the end of April while retail channel availability is expected in May.
According to current and earlier details, Intel plans to release as many as 20 new SKUs from Celeron and Pentium, up to Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 series. The lineup includes the Core i7-4790, Core i5-4690, Core i5-4590, Core i3-4360, Pentium G3450, and Celeron G1840 while low-power should be filled with the Core i7-4790S, Core i5-4590S, and Core i3-4150T SKUs.
Those looking for "K" series CPUs with unlocked multiplier will have to wait until Computex 2014, scheduled to start in June, when the Core i7-4790K and Core i5-4690K are expected for launch.
In case you missed it earlier, the new refreshed Haswell chips will still be compatible with Intel's LGA1150 socket motherboards and will only need a BIOS update. Intel's Core i7 Haswell-E HEDT platform is expected in that time frame and it appears that the Q2 and Q3 2014 should be an interesting time frame for both Intel and motherboard makers as well.
