DayZ is a multiplayer, horror survival game, that is basically just a standalone version of another game. Nevertheless it appears to win gamers hearts by storm, since more than one million copies have already been sold over Steam Early Access.
There is a clear warning on Steam page:
Quote:
"WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING,"
The warning definitely did not stop gamers to buy over 1 million copies so far. In the first 24 hours, 200,000 players already bought it for €23.99, while 875000 others hoped on the train in those next three weeks.
We really have to congratulate Bohemia studio and Dean Hall, the creator of the game, in their success to market and sell an unfinished game which is simply a mod of another game, which is yet another proof that video game market is quite strange.
