ASUS has released a couple of teaser pictures on its Republic of Gamers site showing the upcoming custom design Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II graphics card that will not only feature a custom cooler, but also come with better Super Alloy Power technology as well as the PCB strengthening bracket.
Although, and quite expectedly, it did not share any details regarding the actual clock of the new R9 290X DirectCU II, ASUS did show that the new graphics card will feature Super Alloy Power technology which means it will have much stable power delivery and deliver much better overclocking potential as well as the DirectCU II cooler with 10mm nickel plated heatpipes and two fans (one CoolTech fan).
Since it is paired up with much beefier cooler, ASUS also included the PCB strengthening bracket that should prevent any unnecessary bending of the graphics card PCB.
Unfortunately, ASUS did not reveal the actual availability date or the price premium for the new ASUS R9 290X DirectCU II graphics card but according to our sources, custom R9 290 and R9 290X graphics cards will definitely come before Christmas, or mid-December.
