The recent tear down of the Playstation 4 at iFixit, which got it a rather impressively high repairability score, has also revealed several unannounced components including a secondary low power processor, courtesy of ARM which is supplemented by 2Gb of DDR3 SDRAM.
Earlier this month or just a day after the official launch, iFixit managed to get their hands on Sony's Playstation 4 and tear it apart giving it a rather high repairability score, mostly thanks to it quite well accessability to components and impressive design solutions. The tear down also revealed a couple of "hidden" or to be precise, unannounced components, including the low power secondary processor as well as 2Gb of DDR3 SDRAM.
Although it is still not clear for what does Playstation 4 actually use the SCEI CXD90025G processor, it is clear that this is a low power processor that should handle some background tasks, like downloading, DRM or any other thing including to reduce access time to hard disk or helping with resume state.
