According to a couple of reports around the net, the launch of AMD's Radeon R9 290 has been delayed to November 5th in order to give reviewers enough time to re-benchmark the R9 290 with the newly developed driver.
Expected to launch officially on October 31st, it appears that AMD has decided to postpone the launch of the Radeon R9 290 graphics card to November 5th. The delay allegedly is implemented in order to give reviewers enough time to re-benchmark the card with the newly developed driver that significantly improves performance of the R9 290.
According to early rumors, it appears that the new driver makes the R9 290 a much more competitive against the Geforce GTX 780 and with the recently announced GTX 780 price drop, AMD certainly needs it. It is still not clear if the performance improvements with the new driver also has any effect on the recently launched R9 290X as if it does not, then R9 290 would be much more attractive than the R9 290X.
In any case, we will know for sure on November 5th when we will see some official reviews.
