AMD Radeon R9 290 performance results leaked

Close to GTX Titan at US $449

While we are still fresh from the official Radeon R9 290X launch, the guys from Videocardz.com stumbled upon a rather interesting table from Overclockers.co.uk that, although blurred, obviously shows the performance of the Radeon R9 290 Hawaii Pro graphics cards in 3DMark and Heaven benchmarks. Quite interesting are the "overclocked" results that puts the cut-down Hawaii GPU above the standard R9 290X and above the Nvidia GTX Titan.

In case you missed earlier rumors and posts, the Radeon R9 290, scheduled to officially launch on 31st of October, is based on a cut-down Hawaii GPU with 40 CUs, or simply 2560 stream processors. It is qutie a cut-down from 2816 on the Radeon R9 290X but, on the other hand, it has a slightly higher 900MHz base and 947HMz Boost clocks and still features 512-bit memory interface as well as 4GB of GDDR5 clocked at 5GHz effective. It still has the same dual-BIOS switch for Quiet and Uber modes. According to the leaked info, it should hit retail/e-tail with a suggested price of US $449.

Although this is quite an interesting set of slides and come from a pretty reliable source, you should still take it with a grain of salt. On the other hand, if those prove to be true, AMD's R9 290 can be easily on a path to become a real performance-per-buck king.
