AMD Radeon R9 290 launch date revealed

Coming on 31st of October

While we already know pretty much everything about the AMD Radeon R9 290X, including the fact that it should launch on October 24th and is aiming at US $549 ex. VAT price tag, there is little information on the Radeon R9 290. According to CardPU Forum post spotted by Videocardz.com, the Radeon R9 290 should launch on 31st of October.

According to earlier rumors, the R9 290 is also based on the same 28nm Hawaii GPU as the R9 290X but should end up with less stream processors, most likely 2560, as well as less TMUs, at 160. Of course, it will still feature the same 512-bit memory interface with 4GB of GDDR5 memory and work at around 950MHz for the GPU while memory should end up clocked at 5.0GHz.

The best part of the story is that it should be cheaper than the R9 290X and might not have much lower performance. Of course, we still need to see some official reviews but we will not wait for them too long as R9 290X should come on 24th of October while R9 290 comes on 31st of October.
