As expected and in addition to the top of the line Asus ROG Matrix R9 280X, Asus also announced the rest of the AMD R9 and R7 lineup, including the R9 280X, R9 270X and the R7 260X, that will be a part of its renowned DirectCU II series. Featuring the quite praised DirectCU II cooler as well as DIGI+ VRM and Super Alloy tech, the entire lineup will be much quieter and much cooler compared to the reference design from AMD.
The entire lineup will be available in OC and TOP versions with different factory overclocks and, as noted, will feature Asus' copper-based DirectCU II cooler that should keep the new graphics cards up to 20 percent cooler, three times quieter as well as much more stable thanks to the DIGI+ VRM with Super Alloy Power technology.
The Asus R9 280X is also equipped with Asus' CoolTech fan technology with hybrid blade and bearing design that actually features inner radial blower in order to deliver multi-directional airflow.
Specification wise, the Asus R9 280X DirectCU II TOP ended up with a factory overclock of 1070MHz for the GPU while 3GB of GDDR5 memory ended up clocked at 6400MHz. The Asus R9 270X DirectCU II TOP works at 1120MHz for the GPU while 2GB of GDDR5 memory is clocked at 5600MHz. The last but not the least, Asus R7 260X works at 1188MHz for the GPU while 2GB of GDDR5 memory works at 7000MHz. Naturally, the OC Edition of the same cards are clocked slightly lower.
Unfortunately, we still don not have a precise availability date or the price that Asus will ask for its DirectCU II lineup of R9 and R7-series graphics cards.
