During its GPU 14 event, AMD announced that its new R9 290X graphics card is "the generational leap in display resolution that gamers have been waiting for" as it is the first AMD graphics cards with improved compatibility and support for 4K monitors that will bring easier configuration for UltraHD resolution.
According to AMD, its new series of GPUs will bring out of the box compatibility with 4K monitors in most cases and that new driver will bring hardware level support for the UltraHD resolution. AMD will also propose a new VESA standard that will automatically stitch two separate panels on a 4K monitor and bring much better support for UHD gaming.
The UltraHD 3840x2160 resolution screens are far from being available to an average consumer or even gamers with high budget since they usually go for around US $3500 which is still out of reach but hopefully it will not be long before they drop to more reasonable levels.
When that happens, AMD should have even better support and it is good that we have seen them jumping on that train at the right time.
