While it has been away from tablet market for quite some time, LG has decided that IFA 2013 is just the right place to get back to it with the launch of its new LG G Pad 8.3. Based around an 8.3-inch screen paired up with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 SoC, the new G Pad is definitely looking good, especially if LG manages to keep up with Android updates since the G Pad runs on Android 4.2.2 out of the box.
The precise dimensions of the LG G Pad 8.3 are set at 216.8x126.5x8.3mm, which makes it slightly larger than the Nexus 7 and is also slightly heavier at 338g. Unlike Nexus 7, LG G Pad comes with, what appears to be a brushed aluminum back which really makes it stand out from the rest of the competition. As noted, the heart of the new G Pad is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 with a quad-core CPU part clocked at 1.7GHz paired up with Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It also comes with 16GB internal storage space, 5-megapixel back camera and 1.3-megapixel front one as well as a 4600mAh battery that should keep it live for quite a decent amount of time.
The star is definitely the 8.3-inch 1920x1200 resolution display, which allowed LG to claim the world's first 8-inch size full HD tablet title. It runs on Android 4.2.2 OS and hopefully LG will manage to keep up with Google's updates.
The LG G Pad 8.3 will go on sale in North America, Europe and Asia as well as other regions in the Q4 2013 but it did not shed any light on the actual price of the device.
