Western Digital has announced, that they updated their portfolio of WD Red SATA hard drives. The Red Series from Western Digital is most suitable for NAS (network attached storage) applications, perferably used in small office / home office environments
Meanwhile Western Digital Red hard drives are available in 2.5 inch form factor with capacities up to 1 Terabyte. Other than that there are also drives with 750 Gigabyte capacity. Regardin the 3.5 inch drives the manufacturer offers up to 4 Terabyte capacity.
According to Western Digital the Red hard drives should offer best experience with NAS, which should be the case thanks to the latest version von NASware 2.0. NASware helps improving reliability and protects customer data in case of power loss or any kind of disruption. Additionally Western Digital offers 24x7 dedicated phone support and three year limited warranty.
Western Digital's new WD Red 1 TB (WD10JFCX) is shipping at 99 US-Dollar, the 750 Gigabyte (WD750BFCS) goes for 79 US-Dolalr and the 3.5 inch 4 TB drive (WD40EFRX) is 229 US-Dollar.
