According to a report from Microsoft, the upcoming Xbox one should feature substantially improved voice chat quality, when compared to the predecessor Xbox 360.

The reason for that lies within the fact, that Microsoft is using Skype's audio codec, when it comes to the Xbox One. Dedicated audio processing definitely makes a difference. Microsoft also mentions, that when you use the Xbox One Chat Headset, voice quality will be high.

Apart from the Skype audio codec, there is also an improved Xbox one Wireless Controller. This one offers higher data transfer rates between the console and the controller. Combined with the Skype codec, which is capable of render speech at 24 KHz PCM, technically voice quality tripled.
