In an interview with Engadget, Peter Moore, COO from Electronic Arts is talking about the future for the company. And apparently there is quite some big news inside that interview, since EA wants to push hard towards F2P models.
EA's COO, Peter Moore, explains how the future of the company could be and they might focus even more on F2P games. During an interview with Engadget, he says that a few years ago, after the release of a game, developers took some holidays, but today, that just isn't the case anymore. They have to keep on pushing to remain competitive. According to him, todays games have to be "living organisms" to stay interesting for gamers over a longer period of time.
If you read through the interview, the most important phrase is when Moore comes to the point where mentions franchises and free-to-play together.
Quote:
The ability for you to interact with those franchises on a free-to-play basis is going to be part and parcel of every franchise that we do.
