Developers at Crytek decided to get rid of the number behind the name of their engine. They now simply call it Cryengine. Their latest version is the successor of Cryengine 3, which had been launched back in 2009.
Obviously the new engine will support current and next-gen consoles, PC, WiiU, and others will be added in the future.
Carl Jones, director of Crytek business development, made the following statement:
