The recently announced AMD FX-9590 5.0GHz CPU can actually work on just a handful of high-end socket AM3+ motherboard due to its insanely high 220W TDP but it appears that Gigabyte actually wants to launch a new cost-effective 970A-UD3P motherboard that will have support for the entire AMD line of high-TDP CPUs including the FX-9590, FX-9370, and FX-8770.
Although not officially announced yet and seen only on an incomplete product page that lacks any images, the Gigabyte 970A-UD3P features standard ATX (244x305mm) form-factor, has a 10-phase VRM tuned for high-TDP CPUs and, as the name suggests, is based on AMD's 970+SB950 chipset. It also comes with four DDR3 DIMM memory slots with support for up to 64GB of DDR3-2133MHz memory, has two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot (one electrical x4), three PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots and two standard PCI slots.
The rest of the specifications and features include six SATA 6Gbps ports, four USB 3.0 ports (two via header), 7.1-channel audio with optical SPDIF, gigabit Ethernet and AMI Aptio UEFI BIOS.
Although the price was not announced, it is quite clear that this one will be much less expensive when compared to feature packed high-end socket AM3+ motherboards.
