Asus announces new PB298Q 21:9 ultra-wide monitor

With 2560x1080 resolution

Asus has announced yet another 29-inch 21:9 ultra-wide monitor with 2560x1080 resolution, the Asus PB298Q. Featuring an AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) panel and quite decent all black business look. It also features an ergonomic stand as well as a narrow bezel design that gives an illusion of a frame-less display and offers more room on the screen thanks to its ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ration that translates to two 5:4, 17-inch monitors placed side by side.

As noted, the new PB298Q is equipped with the LED-backlit AH-IPS display that provides extremely accurate color reproduction making the PB298Q suitable for both professional and home usage. It also offers 178-degree wide viewing angles, has a 300cd/m² brightness rating and 80,000,000:1 Asus Smart Contrast Ratio. The Asus PB298Q has an array of inputs including DisplayPort, HDMI and Dual-link DVI and comes with 3W stereo speakers.

As noted earlier, thanks to its 2560x1080 resolution, the Asus PB298Q is 33-percent wider than standard Full HD display and with a 29-inch diagonal, it is basically equivalent to two non-widescreen, 5:4 aspect ration, 17-inch monitors placed side by side. The included ergonomical stand has an adjustable tilt, swivel, and height (up to 150mm), while a pivot joint allows the display to be rotated through 90 degrees for portrait use.

Unfortunately, Asus did not shed any light regarding the actual availability or the price of the new PB298Q monitor.
