Intel Bay Trail-T launch scheduled for September 11th

Four parts ready for launch

According to slides leaked by Chinese VR-Zone, it appears that the launch date for Bay Trail-T platform is set for September 11th and includes four Valleyview-T SKUs, the Z3740, Z3770, Z3740D and the Z3770D.

The four Bay Trail-T platform SKUs should be a first wave of Bay Trail-T Atom quad-core SoC chips based on 22nm manufacturing process and aimed for use in cheaper, under US $150, tablets running on Windows 8 OS. The launch date lines up with Intel's IDF conference in San Francisco. The entire Bay Trail-T lineup, including the Z3740, Z3770, Z3740D and the Z3770D will feature 2MB of L2 cache and use Intel HD integrated graphics.

There will be quite a difference between the non-D and Bay Trail-T D parts that translates to a maximum resolution of 2560x1600 for non-D and 1920x1200 for D parts. The minimum resolution for all Bay Trail-T parts is set at 1366x768. The difference also includes memory support as the D SKUs will support up to 2GB of DDR3L-RS 1333 memory in single channel for up to 10.6GB/s of memory bandwidth while non-D parts will stick with up to 4GB of LPDDR3 1067 in dual channel for up to 17.1GB/s of memory bandwidth.

There is also quite a difference in actual clock speed between the SKUs, so the Z3740 and the Z3740D will be clocked at up to 1.8GHz while the Z3770 and the Z3770D will be clocked at up to 2.4GHz. Despite pretty high difference in actual clock speeds, there is not much difference in SDP (Scenario Design Point) as it is set at 2W for the non-D parts and between 2.2 and 2.4W for the D SKUs.

In any case, it will be definitely nice to see some of those tablets in action.
