Google and Asus are again teaming up for the new, second-generation Nexus 7 tablet that is expected to hit retail/e-tail by the end of this month and judging by the revenue that Asus managed to get from the last one, it is reasonable they expect a big revenue boost from this one as well.
Citing its sources from the upstream supply chain, Digitimes is reporting that Asus expects a decent boost in its Q3 2013 to be coming exactly from the new Nexus 7 and markets such as the US. Due to increased and strong competition from tablet makers such as Acer, HP, Lenovo and Samsung, Asus is experiencing weak sales of its tablets. Asus shipped 5.7 million tablets in the first half of the 2013 and aims to ship 6.3 million in the second half in order to achieve its annual goal of 12 million units.
Asus expects that a big chunk, or precisely around 7 million, of the expect 12 million tablets for the 2013 to come from first and second generation Nexus 7 tablets, while the rest should be coming from its own Transformer-series, Fonepad, MeMO Pad and all other models.
Asus shipped 4.2 million notebooks and 2.7 million tablets in the second quarter which is 10 percent lower than the previous quarter so it is no wonder that it puts a lot of hope in the new Nexus 7.
