With the FX-9590, AMD announced a CPU which is targeting overclockers and enthusiasts only. This processor is available as a limited edition and it clocks with 5.00 GHz default. Meanwhile there are a few retailers that jumped the gun and listed this CPU in their shops.
In the US there are three shops listing AMD's new high-end CPU. Obviously the pricing is not yet final, since all the CPU's are up for pre-order, which means that withing the upcoming weeks we will see the prices drop to a certain point. Checking out PC Connection shows, that they're listing the FX-9590 for 964.71 US-Dollar. At eCost they charge you 878.99 US-Dollar and AntaresPro lists the CPU for 910.99 US-Dollar.
The AMD FX-9590 is an octa-core processor, that is based on AMD's Vishera architecture and compatible with the socket AM3+. AMD is very proud of the fact, that this is the first CPU that does 5.00 GHz stock. What's also quite impressive is the TDP. With 220 Watts AMD easily sets a new record when it comes to desktop CPUs.
