AMD might launch their upcoming Volcanic Island GPU's during October this year, at least if a report from ChinaDIY is true. These rumors are supported by quite a few other rumors, which state that AMD's new GPU's are to come to market in Q4 2013.
AMD's Volcanic Island GPU's will be based on a completely reworked architecture and they will also feature an improved manufacturing process. There will for example be a lot more stream processor with the upcoming cards, when compared to the HD 7000 series. Unfortunately there is no official data so far that confirms shader count. Nevertheless we're sure, we will see numbers bigger than 2'000.
There is also some news regarding the codenames of the new cards. "Hawaii" will for example replace "Tahiti" and therefore "Hawaii" will become AMD's fastest single GPU offer. Furthermore two new and yet unknown codenames have surfaced, which are "Vesuvius" and "Tonga". Unfortunately there is no further information on these to chips, which means that specs remain to be disclosed.
Another interesting bit of news from ChinaDIY is about the naming scheme. AMD might not brand their new hihg-end discrete graphics cards Radeon HD 8000. Instead they will directly jump to Radeon HD 9000. One reason for this descision might be that AMD wants to differentiate their new High-End Cards from the OEM cards, which they already call HD 8000.
