AMD Volcanic Islands show up in leaked driver

Hawaii XT/LE/Pro listed

There have been a lot of rumors regarding AMD's next-generation graphics cards but one recent rumor, stating that the AMD's next-gen will kick off with Volcanic Islands architecture is apparently correct, as it was practically confirmed thanks to latest AMD Catalyst driver.

According to a recent interview with Rage3D, AMD spilled some beans regarding the Volcanic Islands throwing out the names like Honolulu and Reykjavik and noted that these next-generation GPUs might be coming in 2013. Thanks to the leaked AMD Catalyst driver aimed to be used with the Windows 8.1 Blue OS we pretty much have the confirmation that we will certainly see the Hawaii GPU.

The driver lists a total of six different models, all based on Hawaii GPU, including Hawaii XT, LE and Pro. It is still not clear if the Hawaii is the flagship GPU. The fastest version of it could be the Hawaii XTGL which could end up to be similar to the GHz Edition while Pro and LE could be the cut down versions.

In any case, it looks like this year might be quite interesting when it comes to GPU market.
