Since quite some time there were rumors that a new FX processor from AMD might emerge. All those reports were talking about a processor that should feature clock speeds significantly higher than the ones you get with an AMD FX-8350. Today finally was the day and AMD sent out the press release, that the new AMD FX-9590 is going to make it to market.
One rather interesting thing is the fact that AMD decided to change the part number. Instead of FX-8XXX-Series the new CPU's now belong to the FX-9XXX-Series. Today, AMD officiall presented the FX-9590 as well as the FX-9370. Both these CPU are based on the Piledriver architecture.
A closer look at the specs reveals that the new FX-9590 clocks with an astonishing 5.0 GHz, whereas the FX-9370 is good for 4.7 GHz boost clock. The standard clock speeds are 200 MHz lower in both cases, which means 4.8 GHz for the FX-9590 and 4.7 GHz regarding the FX-9370. Comparing these clock speed with the FX-8350, which used to be the highest clocking CPU from AMD until today, shows an increase of 800 MHz and 500 MHz.
Unfortunately there is still no official information on the final TDP of these CPU's but we think that the 220 Watts which were rumored are a bit to high. But still we're quite sure, that we will see an astonishing number. Furthermore there is no information on pricing as well as availability yet.
