Dell officially unveils the new XPS 11 convertible

To take on Lenovo

Dell has now confirmed previous rumors regarding the smaller Dell XPS Ultrabook and officially unveiled its new Dell XPS 11 Ultrabook. Based around a 11.6-inch touchscreen, the new Dell XPS 11 has a special hinge that allows its screen to be folded all the way allowing it to be used as a tablet.

Specifications wise, the new Dell XPS will be using Intel's Core i5 Haswell CPU and feature a 11.6-inchg 2560x1440 resolution screen protected by a Gorilla Glass. In order to make it as usable as possible in the tablet mode, Dell had to use a rather unique flat keyboard that does not use traditional chiclet style keys but rather a solid surface keyboard.

According to Dell, the entire XPS 11 should be 14.9mm thick and weigh just 1.13kg which should make it quite usable as a tablet. Dell also noted that the new XPS 11 should be shipped later this year and with Windows 8.1 OS.

Unfortunately, as it is still in prototype stage, Dell did not want to talk about precise specifications or the actual price of the new XPS 11.
