A new set of slides leaked by Computerbase site shows that AMD plans to launch its Kaveri APUs in late 2013 and that these will be compatible with the new FM2+ socket.
Unlike the recently launched Richland APUs that were bringing just a slight improvement over Trinity APUs, the Kaveri APUs will be based on Steamroller CPU cores and GCN GPU architecture. The Steamroller architecture will actually be a part of the future AMD desktop FX-series CPUs while GCN GPU architecture should bring a big improvement for APUs that should end up in level with the current Sea Islands GPUs.
Unfortunately, AMD will have to switch to FM2+ socket for Kaveri APUs since some rumors suggest that it wants to bring support for GDDR5/DDR4 memory to the platform. Kaveri APU SKUs wil be base at 2-4 Steamroller CPU cores and 6-12 GCN compute units bringing the graphics performance to Radeon HD 7790 levels.
One thing that is probably even more important on the leaked slide is the HSA application support that should bring HUMA technology, making the Kaveri APU quite similar to Playstation 4 and its unified design.
In any case, we are sure that AMD will at least talk about Kaveri APUs at Computex so we will keep our ears close to the ground.
