According to latest reports, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note III might be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 chipset rather than Samsung's own octa-core Exynos 5 chipset.
The choice of Snapdragon 800 for the Galaxy Note III is yet another big win for Qualcomm and it appears that Samsung might be in big trouble in getting its Exynos 5 Octa chipset out. On the other hand, we might see a situation that is quite similar to the Galaxy S4 launch where some regions will use Qualcomm's chipset while other will be running on Samsung's own Exynos.
While Samsung LTE support on Exynos chipset is still quite blurry, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 chipset has an embedded LTE radio, making it quite an option in case you want an LTE enabled smartphone.
In case you missed it earlier, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 chipset features quad-core Krait 400 CPU part clocked at up to 2.3GHz and Adreno 330 GPU that supports 4K video playback. According to earlier rumors, Galaxy Note III should also feature 6-inch Super AMOLED screen, S-Pen, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera.
The announcement of the Galaxy Note III is expected at IFA show in Berlin in September.
