Asus announces its Z87 Classic series motherboards

Gold with black is back

While it announced its high-end Republic of Gamers (ROG) and The Ultimate Force (TUF) line of Z87 motherboards, Asus also announced its Classic series as well that will use a new black PCB with gold heatsinks and accents all around the motherboard. It will also use a much simpler naming scheme with entry level Z87-C, Z87-A, mid-range Z87-Plus and Z87-Pro as well as premium Z87-Deluxe.
The Asus Z87-C will be the cheapest Z87 motherboard from Asus and will feature 4-phase CPU VRM, four DIMM slot with support for up to 64GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory, a single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, one PCI-Express 2.0 and two PCI-Express x1 slot, and three plain PCI slots. The rest of the specs include eight SATA 6Gbps, integrated 7.1-channel audio, DVI, HDMI and D-Sub outputs, four USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet.

The Z87-A is a bit more serious with 8-phase CPU VRM and two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots that can work at x8/x8 or single x16 mode. It also feature a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot and two PCI-Express x1 and standard PCI slots. The rest of the features include ten SATA 6Gbps ports, same audio and features as the Z87-C.

The mid-range lineup starts with Z87-Plus which is pretty much the same as the Z87-A but adds some overclocking-friendly features including button overclock and memory stabilization and it also features twelve 6Gbps SATA ports while the rest of the features and specs is pretty much the same as on the Z87-A.

The Z87-Pro is aimed those looking at high-end LGA1150 CPU offer as it features a 12-phase CPU VRM backed by ASUS EPU, three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (single x16, x8/x8 or x8/x4/x4), four PCI-Express x1 slot, eight 6Gbps SATA and two eSATA ports, integrated 802.11bgn WiFi, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort and D-Sub outputs.

The top of the offer is the Z87-Deluxe with 16-phase CPU VRM. It has the pretty much same layout as the Z87-Pro but adds 10 SATA 6Gbps ports, eight USB 3.0, integrated 802.11ac WiFi, dual Gigabit Ethernet, a couple of overclocking features and Displayport and HDMI outputs.
