The G1.Sniper 5 and G1.Sniper M5

During a media event held in its Taipei HQ, Gigabyte unveiled two new upcoming socket LGA1150 motherboards based on the Intel Z87 Express chipset, the G1.Sniper 5 and the G1.Sniper M5. Both part of the Gigabyte's G1.Sniper series, these two motherboards will be packed with features and feature the new AMP-UP integrated audio solution that Gigabyte presented during its media event.
The G1.Sniper 5 is the standard ATX motherboard features what appears to be a 16-phase VRM with high-quality components seen with previous Gigabyte Ultra Durable 5 motherboards. We are not sure about the final design but currently, the VRM part uses a small fan and can be connected to a liquid cooler as well. It also comes with four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots that can work in x16/x16 dual or x8/x8/x8/x8 quad modes, three PCI-Express x1 slots, ten internal SATA 6Gbps ports from Z87 chipset and four from a third-party controller, noted AMP-UP 7.1-channel audio, ten USB 3.0 ports, two Gigabit Ethernet coming from Bigfoot Kille K2000 and Realtek RTL8111F chips and dual-HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

The G1.Sniper M5 on the other hand is a 24x24cm micro-ATX motherboard that has slightly less features and an 8-phase CPU VRM, but still comes with two PCI-Express x16 3.0 ports, PCI-Express 2.0 x16 and PCI-Express x1 slots, six SATA 6Gbps ports, six USB 3.0 ports, Gigabyte's new AMP-UP audio, one Gigabit Ethernet as well as DVI, dual-HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. The G1.Sniper M5 is aimed at small, LAN party gaming systems and certainly looks good, at least on paper.

The new AMP-UP integrated audio is actually a combination of Creative's Core3D chip combined with TI Burr Brown OPA2134 and TI Mouser LM4562NA OP-AMP chips. The entire system is isolated from the rest of the motherboard in order to prevent electrical noise and interference and features gold-plated jacks. It promises high-quality audio and we are definitely looking forward to try it out.

The new motherboards are scheduled to appears in first week of June as soon as Intel gives a green light on its Core Haswell line of CPUs.
