Palit and PC Partner surpass Asustek in GPU market share

China market to blame

Citing its industry sources in Taiwan, Digitimes.com is reporting that Taiwan-based Palit and Hong Kong-based PC Partner have surpassed Asustek on the global market share of graphics cards.

The main reason for this shift of power on the GPU market comes from China market as Asustek, MSI, Gigabyte, and TuL (Powercolor) are less competitive due to higher price influenced by high customs duties. Palit has extended its graphics card business from ODM production to own-brand sales via mergers and currently owns several brans including Palit, Gainward, Galaxy, Yuan, Vvikoo, Xpertvision and Daytona. PC Partner on the other hand, one of the biggest sellers in Europe with its AMD Sapphire and Nvidia Zotac brands.

Influenced by the current status of the PC market, the GPU business is on the decline as well.
