Microsoft to lower prices of Windows 8 devices

But why?

Microsoft has been slashing prices on Windows 8 based tablets, hybrid PCs with detachable keyboard and convertibles, all at around 20 percent. Recently, Microsoft introduced a price cut for Windows RT tablets all due to slow sales.

Legitreviews.com is reporting that the price cuts might simply be a way to clear out old stock as Intel is gearing up for Haswell launch in June 2013. On the other hand, Microsoft's official response was that Microsoft regularly offers seasonal promotions, discounts and change of assortment of products.

Last time we checked, Microsoft's Windows 8 OS was not doing so good and Windows RT was even worse. For Microsoft sake we hope that Haswell launch will at least provide some boost to Windows 8 sale.
