Asus has announced the new P9X79-E WS motherboard based on the CEB form factor and Intel's X79 chipset. Featuring a total of seven PCI-Express 3.0 slots, the P9X79-E WS supports 4-way Nvidia SLI or AMD Crossfire configurations running in full x16 links.
Aimed at professional users in sectors such as graphics and industrial design, research and scientific modeling, the P9X79-E WS was designed to support powerful and flexible graphics configurations. The new Asus P9X79-E WS also comes with Asus Dr. Power feature that help prevent shutdowns using PSU health monitoring and event notifications and entire motherboard is rated at 91 percent power efficiency and enhanced heat removal.
The extensive specification and feature list starts with support for Intel' socket 2011 CPUs, eight DIMM slots will support for up to 64GB of DDR3 memory in quad-channel configuration, seven PCI-Express 3.0 slots with four blue slots that can work in x16/x16/x16/x16 mode, two SATA 6Gbps ports and four SATA 3Gbps ports from Intel X79 chipset and four SATA 6Gbps from Marvell PCIe 9230 controller, Intel I210 dual Gigabit Ethernet controllers, integrated Realtek ALC1150 8-channel audio, Firwire, four (two back and two via header) USB 3.0 ports from ASMedia USB 3.0 controller and 13 USB 2.0 ports (10 on back I/O and three via header) from Intel X79 chipset.
It also comes with Asus WS Diagnostic LED, mentioned Dr. Power and Asus Xtreme Design that offers ASUS TPU, EPU, Digital Power Design, Quiet Thermal Solution, EZ IDY and Asus Q-Design sets of features.
The new Asus P9X79-E WS is expected to show up in retail/e-tail by the end of this month but the precise price has not been announced.
