Razer has announced that its Razer Edge gaming tablet will come with preinstalled Steam software. It will work flawlessly with Steam Big Picture mode in both mobile console and home console modes.
Since Razer and for that matter, the Edge, are all about PC gaming, it is no wonder that Razer decided to go with Steam, currently one of the leading software platforms for PC gaming. Min-Liang Tan, Razer CEO and creative director noted that since Razer is all about innovation for PC gamers, the access to Steam was a logical choice so Razer Edge users will be able to play their favorite games with greater ease than ever before.

Greg Coomer, product designer at Valve, added that the Razer Edge is a great way to experience everything Steam has to offer, including the Big Picture mode.

In case you missed it, the Edge is Razer's gaming tablet device with 10.1-inch 1366x768 IPS touchscreen powered by either Intel Core i5 1.7GHz or Intel Core i7 1.9GHz Ivy Bridge CPU and Nvidia’s GT 640M LE GPU. The rest of the features include 4 or 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of SSD storage, Windows 8 OS and all the goodies found on most tablets including front-facing 2-megapixel camera, 802.11bgn WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and more.

Premium products always come with a premium price tag so the Razer Edge starts at US $999 and goes all the way up to US $1,299 for the Edge Pro. The detachable controllers will be also sold separately for US $249.
