ASUS unveils B450 motherboards

Seven motherboards

AMD has released the budget-oriented B450 chipset and on this occasion ASUS has updated its website adding seven upcoming models. The ROG Strix B450-I Gaming, ROG Strix B450-F Gaming, TUF B450-Plus, TUF B450M-Plus Gaming, Prime B450-Plus, Prime B450M-A and Prime B450M-K are coming to the market.

The ASUS B450 series includes several models with a wide range of form factors. For example the gaming series called ROG Strix comes in both ATX and mini-ITX form factors. The TUF series which focus on essentials and durability offers two different sized models as well. Last but not least, we have the Prime series with three models that should aim more to professional instead gamers.

The two most interesting models are definetely the ROG Strix B450-I Gaming and ROG Strix B450-F Gaming motherboards. The ASUS ROG Strix B450-I offer the same features of the Z370 and X470 versions, the only difference between these models is the chipset.

ASUS with the ROG Strix B450-I Gaming adds a mini-ITX form factor with two DDR4 DIMM slots. On the storage side we find one M.2 slot, four SATA ports, four USB 3.1 ports and two USB 3.1 Gen2 ports. Looking at expansion slots we find one PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 slot with metal reinforcement. The most interesting feature of this board is that their audio solution actually comes on a daughterboard suspended above the PCB. That daughterboard also sports a M.2 socket. The whole thing is covered by an aluminum plate with RGB LED-illuminated ROG logo.

With the ROG Strix B450-F Gaming, ASUS adds an ATX motherboard with three full-sized PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots and three PCIe 2.0 x1 slots. In the storage department we find six SATA ports and all of them have been angled. Apart from that you get two M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. The first M.2 slot is placed in the middle part of the motherboard and it's compatible with 2280 units, while the second one is close to the PCH area and it can accomodate 22110 units. Looking for additional features we find ASUS ROG SupremeFX onboard audio solution, LAN Guard with an Intel Ethernet port and a good mix of connectors at the I/O panel.
