It's not a secret that Intel is expanding its Coffee Lake desktop processor lineup during Q3 2018. Furthermore the company will release another motherboard chipset called Z390. According to latest rumors Intel will release three more unlocked CPUs, the Core i9-9900K, Core i7-9700K and Core i5-9600K.
According to the SiSoft Sandra database the new chip from Intel clocks with 3.60GHz base and it's not clear yet the boost clock. However according to latest leaks, this processor should sport a Turbo Boost of 4.90GHz. Apart from that there are 256KB of L2 cache per core and 16MB of L3 cache. What's more interesting about this chip is the fact that SiSoft Sandra read only eight core without HyperThreading. At the moment isn't clear if the CPU will feature or will not feature HyperThreading.
The result unveils the chips performance in the Arithmetic, Multimedia and Cryptography routines. If we compare this result with our Content Creation chart, we see that the upcoming CPU is as fast as the Intel Core i7-8700K.
Checking our own tests, this chip sits between the Core i7-8700K and the freshly released AMD Ryzen 5 2600X. This is definitely a good score if the price will be competitive too. Anyway it's not clear what kind of memory has been used during this tests and we are rather sure that the BIOS might need some tune too.
The CPU has been tested on an unknown motherboard which belongs to "Coffee Lake and Cannon Lake" series. Furthermore the platform uses an Intel i219-LM ethernet chip which should be the server version of the i219-V that is the standard Intel NIC on most consumer motherboards.
In other words, we expect to see new processors paired with Intel Z390 motherboards quite soon. At the moment there isn't more information and we will keep an eye on it.
