ASUS has revealed the full specifications of its WS C246 Pro and WS C246 M-Pro motherboards. These models belong to the high-end series and they are designed for Xeon E-2100 processors. Both models come with a lot of features.
Like we have mentioned before, the WS C246 Pro is based on an ATX form factor. There are four full-sized PCIe slots but only two of them come with steel reinforcements. In addition there are two PCIe x1 slots. In the case of storage you'll find eight angled SATA ports and two M.2 slots. Looking for additional features we find a debug display, several onboard buttons and support for USB 3.1 ports.
The WS C246 M-Pro is a bit different and ASUS didn't change the form factor only. Compared to an enthusiast motherboard, we see a rotated socket and a different placement of the components above the PCB. For example the socket is placed in the middle between the PCIe slots and DIMM slots. In addition also the 24-pin power connector is very close to the 8-pin power, while usually they are pretty far away from each other.
Storage wise there are still plenty of solutions; for example we see eight angled SATA ports and one M.2 slot. Furthermore there is one full-sized PCIe slot paired with one PCIe x4 and one PCIe x1 slots. Like with the WS C246 Pro, on this model there are plenty of additional features like onboard buttons and debug display.
So far ASUS has not revealed any details on pricing and availability regarding these two motherboards.
