Gigabyte X399 Aorus Xtreme ready for Threadripper 2

Compatible with 32 core HEDT CPU

Gigabyte has finally revealed the first motherboard compatible with Threadripper 2 processors. This particular board comes with a whole bunch of features as well as an exceptionally good looking color scheme. Due this announcement, Gigabyte confirms that there are no plans for X499 motherboards in a near future.

The X399 Aorus Xtreme is based on an E-ATX form factor featuring RGB backlighting underneath each heat sink and there are steel reinforcements on the PCIe slots. Storage wise we find six angled SATA ports. Apart from that you get three M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. All the slots are placed between the PCIe slots and they features a M.2 heat sink which should help preventing your SSD from thermal throttling.

Furthermore the motherboard sports a rather thick backplate which should improve the overall stiffness. At a first glance this is certainly a good looking motherboard. In addition, the X399 Aorus Xtreme features 10+3 VRM power phases and a plethora of VRMs. The electrical components are cooled down by a massive heatsink made out copper. The board is powered by dual 8-pin CPU connectors and a 6-pin plug for the PCIe lanes.

The Threadripper 2000 series will be announced by the end of July during a special press event in collaboration with Ferrari.
