AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990X tested

On Cinebench R15

The first set of benchmarks on AMD's Ryzen Threadripper CPU has surfaced. This time it looks like the 32 cores AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990X has been tested. This model features 32 cores, 64 threads and a TDP of 250W. The leak comes from HKEPC since they actually managed to get their hands on the chip.

These new results have been gathered using Cinebench R15. The Threadripper 2990X hits 6'399 points running at 4.1GHz, according to the Cinebench R15 database the Ryzen Threadripper 2990X is 112% faster than AMD's Threadripper 1950X. This is a pretty interesting result since the Threadripper 1950X features 16 cores and 32 threads. Furthermore the new AMD chip is 48% faster than the Xeon E5 2690 V4 which sports 28 cores and 56 threads.

According to the CPU-Z screenshot, the 2990X is running at 3.40GHz base clock with a XFR frequency set to 4.0GHz. The chip has been overclocked up to 4.20GHz but due to some thermal throttling the score was lower than when the chip was clocked at just 4.0GHz on all core. There is still an embargo on Threadripper 2000 and we can't wait to see what else this chip can do.
