AMD announced that we will see Threadripper 2 processors in Q3 2018. These new models will pack up to 32 core and 64 thread and feature the 12nm Zen+ architecture. Furthermore, the CPUs feature many of the improvement that we've seen on the second-gen Ryzen processors.
The upcoming processors have been announced side by side with a new wave of X399 refresh motherboards. If you have already a Threadripper setup, you will be happy to know that Threadripper 2 processors are backwards compatible with existing X399 motherboards. Since the new motherboards, like the MSI X399 MEG Creation, come with a beefy power delivery we expect a rather high TDP from these CPUs.
AMD will also add 24 core Threadripper 2 models, but at the moment we haven't any additional information. AMD hasn't provided pricing specifics yet.
