RX Vega GPU shows up in 3DMark database

As fast as GTX 1080

AMD's RX Vega 20 GPU has been spotted in the Futuremark database, showcasing performance that is similar to NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080, which would mean that the upcoming AMD flagship graphics card won't be capable of competing with NVIDIA's absolute high-end models. The card is clearly an engineering sample running on early drivers and we expect to see more performance soon.

The result shows that the cards has been tested on 3DMark 11 suite. At the moment there are several scores in the 3DMark database with different clock speeds. The frequencies, which are visible in the different 3DMark results are peak clocks and the card might be overclocked. However, according to what we know so far, the RX Vega 20 should sport a GPU frequency of 1000MHz and a memory clock of 1250MHz.

AMD Vega 20 should go into 7nm Radeon Instinct that is a graphics card for machine learning. However since the Frontier, RX Vega 64 as well as Fire Pro share the same board design, the Vega 20 that has been tested might be a successor to any of those cards. At the moment this are early results. Since the Vega 20 is still under NDA, we might see more leaks during upcoming weeks.
