According to DigiTimes, the demand of graphics cards and motherboards for cryptomining dropped unexpectedly at the beginning of this year. Major AIB partners of these components, such as MSI, Gigabyte, and TUL have seen shipments heavily impacted.
A few weeks ago, Bitmain has reported that they were working on the first Ethereum ASIC Miners. Right after the announcement, we have seen a dramatically decline in the order of graphics cards for ETH mining. According to DigiTimes, "gross margins for graphics card makers are expected to fall sharply to 20-25 per cent from a high of 50 per cent enjoyed earlier". In other words, we might see some GPU sales and promotions rather soon. Vendors hope for a rebound in prices before summer holidays.
Several Taiwanese graphics card makers saw record revenues with the crypto-mining boom and ascent of currency values. The GPU pricing declines could still reverse if various cryptocurrencies boom again. At the moment, there are still several PC enthusiasts who hope that the classic bubble formation of cryptocurrency fly away. The ETH pricing follows this financial values phenomenon extremely closely.
