Philips reveals their 492P8 double-wide display

With 32:9 aspect ratio

During the IFA show in Berlin, Philips has unveiled an ultra-wide and extra large display. The 492P8 is wider than any other ultrawide monitor thanks to its 49-inch panel. The monitor is based on a rather unusual 5120 x 1440 resolution and a 1800R curvature.

The Philips 492P8 comes with a huge 49-inch panel and quite an uncommon 32:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixel. Apart from that there is an 1800R curvature, which is supposed to allow for an even more immersive experience. The display's brightness is set to 600 cd/m2, the contrast at an impressive 5000:1 and the viewing angles are reported to be 178°. These specs make us believe that Philips is using an IPS panel in the case of this monitor.

Regarding the connectors, the Philips 492P8 comes one DisplayPort, a VGA input, a pair of HDMI ports and a USB Type-C connector. The Type-C port supports Gigabit Ethernet and it can also charge an attached laptop. The display also has a pair of 3.5-mm jacks for audio input and output.

At this time there isn't any information about the pricing of this display but it's set to release in Q4 of this year.
